Applying for the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT)

  • Online Registration: Visit the official ETC website at http://etc.hec.gov.pk to complete your online registration.
  • Technical Support: For any difficulties encountered during the online registration process, please refer to https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk.
  • Application Submission: Ensure that all registration data and information are accurately provided and that you SUBMIT your application. Applications saved in a SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will not be considered.
  • Queries and Complaints: All candidate queries and complaints must be resolved prior to the closure of the web registration portal. Issues raised after the deadline cannot be processed due to logistical and security constraints.
  • Personal Detail Verification: Carefully review and confirm all personal details, including name and CNIC number, before final submission. Discrepancies between your CNIC information and application data will prevent you from appearing in the test.
  • Eligibility for Test: Only candidates who register using their own CNIC can appear for the test. Using the CNIC of parents, siblings, relatives, or any other individual is strictly prohibited.
  • Fee Submission: Deposit the test fee using the generated consumer number via 1Link/1Bill Invoice payment services. After payment, verify your online transaction on the ETC Dashboard. The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Roll Number Slip: Download your Roll Number Slip from http://etc.hec.gov.pk approximately one week before the test date or check your registered email address.
  • Communication: Registered applicants will receive email and SMS notifications regarding the issuance of their Roll Number Slips. Ensure your provided mobile number and email address are valid and accessible.
  • Test Day Requirements: Bring a printout of your Roll Number Slip and your Original CNIC/Passport to enter the Test Centre.
  • Test Centre Selection: You can select your preferred test centre from the options available on the application form. Test centres cannot be changed after registration. Note that ETC may assign an alternative centre if a chosen centre has fewer than 250 applicants or reaches capacity.
  • Category Selection: Carefully select the test category that best aligns with your area of specialization. Once chosen, the test category cannot be altered.
  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones and electronic devices (calculators, recorders, imaging devices) are strictly NOT ALLOWED inside the test centre. Taking, uploading, or sharing images of the question book is a punishable offense.
