  • Record patient progress and events in the HMIS system
  • Seek advice from senior team members regarding patient health
  • Receive a hand over report on patients and attend ward areas promptly
  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care
  • Manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries including vacuum deliveries
  • Assess and manage patients in the ER
  • Liaise with nursing staff regularly to check on patient progress
  • See patients at the request of nurses in charge and carry out examinations
  • Discuss medication on discharge with patients and write discharge summaries
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient medical information
  • Provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors
  • Remain on the hospital premises whilst on duty
  • Comply with all hospital policies and procedures
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS)
  • Participate in ward rounds, ensuring timely evaluation and management of patients
  • Manage routine and emergency medical situations effectively
  • Collaborate with consultants and senior medical staff for patient care decisions
  • Perform necessary medical procedures within the scope of practice and competence
  • Provide care during labor and delivery, including vaginal and vacuum deliveries
  • Manage patients in the Emergency Room (ER)
  • Ensure smooth patient transitions through pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding patient progress
  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans and discharge instructions
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Respond to medical emergencies involving staff or visitors
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Foster positive and professional relationships with colleagues, patients, and their families
