Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure staff are present and re-allocate tasks during shifts for effective patient care
• Manage staff duty hours, breaks, and overtime approvals, documenting all arrangements
• Conduct rounds to assess patient care, resource availability, and address urgent needs
• Coordinate with previous shifts for handover of patient and staff concerns
• Conduct daily briefings to discuss staffing, patient care, and incidents
• Ensure staff compliance with duty hours, uniforms, and hospital ethics
• Prepare wards for physician rounds and ensure patient handover practices are followed
• Verify ward inventory, crash carts, and stock against checklists
• Ensure assigned staff are aware of patient care needs and hygiene protocols
• Coordinate with consultants and medical officers on patient care and personnel issues
• Ensure availability and proper recording of consumable supplies
• Hold weekly meetings with senior nursing staff to review outcomes
• Liaise with CNI for in-service education and training needs
• Conduct random rounds with staff to oversee patient care and management
• Ensure completion and review of patient assessments and care plans
• Monitor and record vital signs, height, and weight for new admissions
• Provide hygiene care as per patient needs and document activities
• Ensure accurate calculation of intake and output and documentation
• Oversee collection and dispatch of patient specimens for investigations
• Ensure proper care of I/V lines, CVCs, drains, and tubes
• Assist in direct patient care during staff shortages or emergencies
• Ensure staff are aware of and follow medication management processes
