Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients in OPD, IPD, ER, ICU, or specialty units
- Propose a diagnosis based on history, examination, laboratory and imaging data
- Develop and implement treatment plans under Consultant supervision
- Perform clinical procedures within scope of training, specialty and credentialing limits
- Participate in ward rounds and case discussions; ensure timely and accurate patient documentation
- Respond to medical emergencies and code blue situations, escalate complex cases to Consultants
- Provide on-call coverage as per duty roster
- Stabilize patients and coordinate referrals when required
- Coordinate with nursing and allied health teams for patient care and continuity of treatment
- Counsel patients and their families and obtain informed consent for treatment
- Monitor patients' progress and modify treatments as their conditions evolve
- Ensure allocation of appropriate time and resources for all patient care processes and procedures
- Provide clinical guidance and ensure adherence with hospital clinical guidelines and SOPs
- Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings
- Follow infection prevention and patient safety standards
- Engage with other teams to facilitate high quality care and improve patient experience
- Ensure all patient care is delivered in compliance with IHHN, provincial and national regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients and attendants
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of patients
- Ensures the respect for dignity; cultural, religious and social sensitivities of patients
- Participate in CME, research initiatives and case presentations for capacity building
- Receive ongoing training to maintain essential certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, ATLS)
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional growth and strives for own professional development
- Perform any other task assigned by the Head of Department that is commensurate with your knowledge and skills
