Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing IHHN infection control policies, SOPs, and standard precautions across all departments
- Ensure compliance with hand hygiene, PPE, isolation precautions, sterilization, and environmental cleaning protocols
- Conduct infection risk assessments for clinical and support areas
- Conduct surveillance of HAIs including, Surgical Site Infections (SSI), Catheter-Associated UTIS (CAUTI), Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) and Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
- Coordinate with microbiology for culture trends and antimicrobial resistance patterns
- Analyze infection data, trends, and outbreak indicators
- Coordinate with clinical, microbiology, nursing, and housekeeping teams during outbreaks
- Conduct regular IPC audits (hand hygiene, waste management, CSSD processes, environmental hygiene)
- Ensure compliance with National IPC Guidelines (Pakistan), Healthcare Commission standards (PHC/SHCC, etc.), IHHN Quality & Patient Safety framework
- Ensure alignment with JCI, ISO, WHO, CDC, and national infection control standards
- Participate in outbreak investigations and containment strategies; implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA)
- Conduct regular IPC training for clinical and non-clinical staff
- Ensure compliance with waste management, isolation protocols, and occupational health standards
- Ensure proper segregation, labeling, and disposal of infectious waste
- Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives in collaboration with Pharmacy and clinicians
- Monitor antibiotic usage patterns and compliance with hospital antibiotic policy
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual IC reports for management and committees; present IPC performance metrics in committee meetings
- Implement corrective and preventive actions based on surveillance findings
- Maintain accurate documentation of surveillance data and audit findings
- Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards
