Medical Officer at Indus Hospital & Health Network

We have an immediate opening for the post of Medical Officer.

  • Provide routine and emergency medical cover during duty hours
  • Evaluate admitted patients by taking complete history and performing physical examinations
  • Document patient information accurately in the HMIS system
  • Undertake morning, evening, and night ward rounds
  • Record patient progress and events in HMIS
  • Seek advice from senior team members for patient health concerns
  • Receive handover reports from alternative RMO/SMO and attend ward areas promptly
  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care
  • Manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries including vacuum deliveries according to competency level
  • Assess and manage patients in the ER
  • Seek SMO assessment for complicated antenatal patients before admission or discharge decisions
  • Undertake medical procedures as advised by the Consultant
  • Liaise with nursing staff regularly regarding patient progress
  • Discuss medication on discharge with patients
  • Write discharge summaries for patients
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient medical information
  • Provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in emergencies
  • Remain on hospital premises while on duty
  • Ensure continuous cover in the absence of RMO/SMO
  • Comply with all hospital policies and procedures
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adopt a professional approach with all patients, staff, and visitors
  • Work within the level of experience and competence
  • Highlight all consultant orders verbally and in writing
  • Provide medical cover, routine and emergency, during hours of duty
  • Work in conjunction with other MOs to provide 24-hour service
  • Evaluate admitted patients by taking complete history and performing physical examinations
  • Document all patient information in the HMIS
  • Undertake morning, evening, and night ward rounds daily
  • Ensure patients are visited appropriately during ward rounds
  • Record patient progress and any event in the HMIS system
  • Seek advice from senior team members regarding patient health
  • Receive handover reports from alternative RMO/SMO and attend ward areas promptly
  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for admitted patients
  • Manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries including vacuum deliveries as per competency
  • Assess and manage patients in the ER
  • Ensure complicated antenatal patients are assessed by SMO and endorsed by specialist on call
  • Undertake medical procedures advised by the Consultant within their competence
  • Liaise with nursing staff regularly to check on patient progress
  • See patients at the request of nurses in charge and carry out examinations
  • Discuss medication on discharge with patients
  • Write a discharge summary on discharging a patient
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient medical information
  • Provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in case of accident or sudden illness
  • Remain on the hospital premises whilst on duty
  • Ensure continuous cover until a replacement is found if RMO/SMO is absent
  • Comply with all hospital policies and procedures, especially Health and Safety at Work
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families
