Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct deliveries independently at the facility and community level
• Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with basic emergency obstetric care principles
• Provide primary care to women of reproductive age
• Deliver essential newborn care, well-baby clinic visits, and neonatal resuscitation
• Perform interventions such as circumcision, IMCI, and vaccinations as trained
• Counsel and educate women, families, and the community on relevant health topics
• Provide all non-surgical methods of family planning and counseling for surgical methods
• Obtain specialized assistance and manage referrals
• Share knowledge, skills, and expertise with midwifery, medical, and nursing students and staff
• Perform administrative duties such as patient charting, recording, and reporting
• Participate in research, professional organizations, and related committees
• Engage in continuing education opportunities
• Follow established health center policies, procedures, and objectives
• Participate in the provision of 24-hour, 7-day maternity service, which may require evening, night, or on-call duty
