This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a significant capacity-building project focused on developing the skills of young musicians at the Leif Larsen Music Centre (LLMC) in Hunza. The program, supported by the Aga Khan Music Programme and the Royal Norwegian Embassy, aims to strengthen Pakistan's contemporary music industry while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
This initiative involves designing and delivering advanced music training workshops, conducting practical master classes that blend indigenous and contemporary musical forms, and mentoring emerging artists. Successful candidates will also lead residencies and provide critical guidance on various aspects of music performance and interpretation. Skills
- Nationally recognized reputation as a professional musician, composer, music educator, or music producer
- Extensive and well-rounded experience in designing and delivering professional music training and mentoring programmes related to the local music of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, as well as South Asian classical music and contemporary musical forms such as pop music
- Demonstrated experience of working with young and emerging musicians as well as nationally and internationally recognized musicians from Pakistan
- Strong knowledge of Pakistani musical traditions alongside contemporary musical practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with cultural, educational, or development organizations is considered an advantage
- National or international recognition, awards, honours, or formal acknowledgements by government bodies, cultural institutions, music organizations, or other reputable arts and cultural organizations will be considered an advantage
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver advanced music training workshops for LLMC students in Hunza
- Conduct practical master classes combining the indigenous musical traditions of Hunza with South Asian classical music and contemporary musical forms
- Mentor emerging musicians and support their artistic and professional development
- Lead an advanced music residency/workshop in Karachi for selected participants
- Provide technical guidance on performance, composition, musical interpretation, and professional practice
- Contribute to project documentation and reporting, where required
