Duties and Responsibilities:

• * Handle patient information accurately during shift transitions, including files and medication charts
• * Deliver direct patient care consistently throughout the shift
• * Uphold therapeutic standards and monitor patient care goals, making necessary adjustments
• * Collaborate with the healthcare team to address and resolve patient needs
• * Manage medication preparations and administrations in compliance with protocols
• * Ensure the hospital unit is clean, safe, and adheres to regulations
• * Protect patients and staff by following infection control and medication safety procedures
• * Assist physicians during ward rounds and document their instructions
• * Prepare patients for medical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is available
• * Maintain precise and complete patient records and utilize correct charting techniques
• * Execute physician orders and promptly raise any concerns regarding prescribed treatments
• * Monitor and manage the stock of medical supplies for the ward
• * Accurately check and record patient blood sugar levels
• * Collect blood samples and conduct other laboratory procedures on patients
• * Monitor and record vital signs for all patients, especially those in pre-operative and post-operative care
• * Perform IV cannulation on patients following established policies
• * Report any incidents involving patients, staff, or visitors in a timely manner
• * Oversee the work of Nurse Aids and student nurses
• * Fulfill specific patient and non-patient related tasks as directed by senior staff
• * Undertake any additional duties assigned by supervisors
