Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handover and takeover unit/ward information, including patient introductions, files, and reports
• Provide direct patient care throughout the shift
• Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards
• Resolve patient problems using multi-disciplinary team strategies
• Prepare medication requisitions and administer medication
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies
• Facilitate doctors/consultants on rounds and record instructions
• Assist doctors with any procedure they may need to perform
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing care
• Carry out doctors’ orders and address any concern with prescribed treatment
• Ensure unit/ward medical supply requirements are well-stocked
• Check and record blood sugar
• Draw blood and perform other lab procedures
• Check and record vital signs
• Perform IV cannulation
• Notify/report incidents
• Supervise Nurse Aids and Student Nurses
• Perform delegated tasks as directed by the Ward Incharge, Nursing Coordinator
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Head of the Department
