Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily phlebotomy operations across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency areas
• Guarantee accurate patient identification and precise sample labeling before dispatch to the laboratory
• Effectively manage staff workload and allocate personnel to ensure seamless operations and adequate coverage
• Deliver comprehensive training, mentorship, and orientation to new team members following approved SOPs
• Manage phlebotomy duty rosters, track attendance, and approve leave requests to maintain consistent service delivery
• Provide supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluations for all phlebotomy staff
• Develop and manage duty rosters and leave schedules for the phlebotomy team
• Conduct training sessions, assess staff competencies, and manage performance reviews
• Uphold discipline, ensure adherence to SOPs, and promote professional conduct among staff
• Strictly enforce biosafety, infection control, and waste disposal protocols
• Investigate and meticulously report any incidents, including needle-stick injuries and adverse events
• Foster a patient-focused and secure service environment
• Ensure venipuncture and blood collection strictly follow physician orders, hospital protocols, and approved SOPs
• Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to infection control and biosafety guidelines
• Monitor, maintain, and replenish phlebotomy supplies to guarantee uninterrupted service delivery
• Facilitate timely sample collection and coordinate with laboratory sections across all hospital areas, prioritizing critical care units
• Ensure compliant disposal of biomedical waste and sharps, and correct use of PPE as per hospital policies
• Document all sample rejections completely and accurately, including reasons and corrective actions
• Actively participate in audits such as ISO 15189 and PHHC, including documentation review and record maintenance
• Ensure all phlebotomy and sample collection activities align with ISO 15189 standards, SOPs, and quality assurance requirements
• Maintain appropriate records and statistics, monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and implement measures for improvement
• Undertake any other assigned tasks by the immediate supervisor that are within the scope of your knowledge and skills
