Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Histopathology section, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
• Accountable for all aspects of clinical governance, including quality assurance and accreditation
• Contribute substantially to teaching as an integral component of clinical practice
• Lead or actively participate in departmental and external hospital committees related to clinical care
• Implement and monitor quality control, quality assurance protocols, and record-keeping procedures
• Provide independent sign-out of difficult cases and clinico-pathologic advice to clinicians
• Ensure drafting and implementation of SOPs for all laboratory tests
• Supervise technical staff, assessing performance and ensuring adherence to protocols
• Acquire extensive knowledge of advanced laboratory theory, techniques, and testing
• Participate in departmental and organizational meetings to meet service objectives
• Acquire knowledge of standard laboratory safety procedures
• Perform costing of all tests and assess feasibility of new tests
• Ensure proper test utilization and inventory management
• Ensure appropriate training and development of technical staff
• Participate in continuing educational activities (CME) and academic activities/research
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs
• Organize and participate in departmental academic activities
• Participate in professional continuing educational activities and maintain updated knowledge and skills
• Participate in departmental and inter-departmental audits and research
• Manage proficiency testing, ordering, and result review with corrective action
• Supervise and report proficiency testing surveys
• Undertake any other task assigned by the hospital management
