Expression of Interest for Senior Music Trainers/Consultants

Aga Khan Cultural Service - Pakistan (AKCS-P) is inviting Expressions of Interest from accomplished music practitioners to serve as consultants for a significant capacity-building initiative. This project, implemented at the Leif Larsen Music Centre (LLMC) in Hunza, is supported by the Aga Khan Music Programme (AKMP) and funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The core objective is to elevate the technical and professional skills of young musicians by offering advanced master classes, individualized mentorship, and exposure to Pakistan's dynamic contemporary music landscape. The program also aims to champion the promotion and preservation of the rich musical heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral through documentation and fostering innovation across diverse musical practices. Key requirements for applicants include:
  • A minimum of 20 years of demonstrated professional experience in music performance, composition, production, or education.
  • Proven expertise in designing and delivering professional music training and mentoring programs.
  • A strong understanding of Pakistani musical traditions and contemporary practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.

Skills

  • Nationally recognized reputation as a professional musician, composer, music educator, or music producer
  • Extensive and well-rounded experience in designing and delivering professional music training and mentoring programmes
  • Demonstrated experience of working with young and emerging musicians
  • Strong knowledge of Pakistani musical traditions alongside contemporary musical practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with cultural, educational, or development organizations
  • National or international recognition, awards, honours, or formal acknowledgements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver advanced music training workshops for LLMC students in Hunza
  • Conduct practical master classes that combine indigenous musical traditions of Hunza with South Asian classical music and contemporary musical forms
  • Mentor emerging musicians and support their artistic and professional development
  • Lead an advanced music residency/workshop in Karachi for selected participants
  • Provide technical guidance on performance, composition, musical interpretation, and professional practice
  • Contribute to project documentation and reporting, where required
