Duties and Responsibilities:

- Periodically review department policies, procedures, and job descriptions, recommending revisions
- Report incidents to senior management as necessary
- Monitor consumption of medication and general store supplies
- Assign staff duties and create nursing staff duty rosters to optimize staff utilization and minimize overtime
- Implement the Ward Teaching Program (CBO) for nursing staff in coordination with Nursing Education Services
- Participate in clinical teaching and staff development of nursing staff
- Counsel and guide all nursing staff
- Conduct regular rounds and escort special visitors on hospital rounds
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient ward operations (maintenance, billing, etc.)
- Ensure proper hand over of patients (bed to bed) and ward inventory in every shift
- Conduct random checks and report discrepancies to management
- Review reports from Nursing Shift Incharge for evening and night shifts, reporting all incidents to management
- Keep the Nursing Manager informed of any special needs of the ward under their charge
- Supervise day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current TIH guidelines and regulations
- Continually observe the general condition of patients and supervise bed-to-bed patient care
- Monitor patients and ensure proper documentation is maintained and recorded on the system
- Monitor staff performing hygiene care, medication administration, vital sign documentation, I.O.
- Charts, I/V line and cannula care, dressing wounds, and maintaining inventories
- Monitor the proper functioning of biomedical equipment and availability of supplies
- Coordinate and communicate with consultants or medical officers related to patient care issues
- Perform all tasks of staff at times of shortage of resources and in emergency situations
- Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor/head of department
