  • Conduct regular rounds to evaluate patient care, resource availability, and address urgent needs
  • Coordinate with previous shift supervisors to review patient and attendant concerns from the last 24 hours
  • Conduct daily briefings to discuss staffing, patient care, incidents, and other pertinent matters
  • Ensure staff compliance with uniforms, attendance, punctuality, and hospital card policies
  • Promote professional behavior among healthcare workers with patients, attendants, and colleagues
  • Prepare wards for physician rounds, ensuring beds and surroundings are ready
  • Oversee bed-to-bed patient handover and documentation in patient records
  • Participate in or delegate handover sessions, ensuring continuity of care
  • Physically verify ward inventory against checklists and record in each shift
  • Conduct random checks of inventory and crash carts to ensure compliance and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure assigned staff are aware of patients' care needs, hygiene, and clothing changes
  • Accompany physicians during rounds with area in-charge and assigned staff
  • Coordinate with consultants and medical officers to discuss patient care and personnel issues
  • Ensure availability of consumable supplies and record their consumption
  • Oversee staff adherence to supply and consumption recording in HMIS
  • Chair weekly meetings with senior nursing staff to review staffing and service outcomes
  • Liaise with CNI to discuss in-service education, training, and development needs
  • Keep Nursing Management informed of ward-specific needs
  • Conduct random rounds with staff to assess patient care and overall management
  • Ensure completion and review of patient initial assessments and care plans
  • Monitor and document new admission vital signs, height, and weight for BSA calculation
  • Provide hygiene care as per patient needs and document activities of daily living
  • Ensure regular checking and documentation of patient vital signs, height, and weight as per policy
  • Accurately calculate and document patient intake, output, and drainage
  • Ensure timely collection, labeling, and dispatch of patient investigation specimens
  • Oversee care of I/V lines, CVCs, drains, and tubes as per guidelines
  • Ensure wound dressing is carried out according to hospital guidelines
  • Assist in direct patient care during staff shortages or emergencies
  • Ensure staff are aware of medication management processes, including prescription, dispensing, and administration
