Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular rounds in the hospital to discuss and monitor infection control practices with staff
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities, committees, and projects as assigned
- Monitor and continuously surveil approved infection control clinical indicators, preparing end-of-month data and reports
- Identify problem areas, infection control concerns, or increased infection rates and promptly report them to the I.C.
- Manager/HOD
- Develop infection control policies based on hospital needs and available facilities, disseminate them to departments, and ensure staff access
- Collect infection data from hospital departments and maintain records for every case
- Liaise between clinical areas and the Infection Control Team
- Conduct training sessions to ensure constant implementation of infection control practices
- Inform the I.C.
- Manager/HOD and ID team of any compromised or infected patients for appropriate care and precautions
- Regularly arrange monthly infection control committee meetings
- In outbreak situations, ensure the implementation of control measures, review practices, communicate events, and compile reports with recommendations
- Ensure the availability of needed supplies and report any unavailability
- Take every opportunity to update and extend knowledge of Infection Control
- Monitor the execution of preventive measures and provide guidance to staff
- Report any interference with the implementation of infection control practices
- Make sure that staff are free from any infectious disease
- Collect patient culture reports from the microbiology lab regularly, follow up on hospital infections, and teach precaution measurements to staff
- Coordinate with the school of nursing in arranging teaching and training sessions for nursing students
- Initiate emergency safety practices as needed
