Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adopt a professional approach with all patients, staff, and visitors
• Work within their level of experience
• Provide medical cover, routine and emergency, during hours of duty and provide a 24-hour service to the hospital
• Evaluate the patients admitted to the ward by taking complete history and performing pertinent physical examination and documenting it in the HMIS
• Undertake morning, evening and night ward rounds daily
• Record the progress and any event of the patient in HMIS system
• Seek advice from the senior team member
• Receive a hand over report on patients
• Provide pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care
• Manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries
• Assess and manage patients in ER
• Undertake certain medical procedures advised by the Consultant
• Liaise with nursing staff regularly
• Discuss medication on discharge with patients and write a discharge summary
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient’s medical information
• Provide urgent medical attention and urgent treatment to staff or visitors
• Remain on the hospital premises whilst on duty
• Comply with all hospital policies and procedures
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff and patients and families
