Skills
- Report on duty in time as per schedule shift and confirm assigned areas
- Conduct physical check of each unit inventory, mark in checklist & report deficiencies/breakages/non-functioning items to the immediate supervisor
- Ensure timely bed-to-bed handover from outgoing to incoming shift staff, including patient status, medication, investigation reports, and intake/output charts
- Document pending tasks carried forward to the incoming shift and any significant interventions or concerns
- Assess patients for required care, pain, risks, and provide education on prevention in a calm and considerate manner
- Evaluate patient condition after every intervention to gauge the effectiveness of care
- Involve the multidisciplinary team when patient problems require specialist consultation
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by ensuring compliance with housekeeping, maintenance, and safety departments
- Protect patients by adhering to infection control and medication safe administration protocols
- Maintain patient privacy during hygiene care, physical examination, procedures, and transportation
- Keep patient records confidential and do not share patient data with unauthorized individuals
- Accompany physicians during rounds, note orders, and request documentation in HMIS
- Assist doctors with procedures, preparing patients physically and emotionally, ensuring privacy and necessary supplies
- Prepare patients for surgery/procedures as per pre-operative orders
- Follow post-operative orders, monitor vital signs, surgical site dressings, and drains
- Know incident/near miss reporting procedures related to patient or staff harm, equipment issues, or dysfunction
- Guide IPN, RM, Nurse Aids, and new joiners on IHHN policies and practices
- Perform any other assigned task commensurate with knowledge and skills
