  • Provide medical cover, routine and emergency, during hours of duty
  • Work in conjunction with other SMOs to provide a 24-hour service
  • Undertake morning and evening ward rounds daily
  • Record patient progress and events in the HMIS system
  • Seek advice from Consultants and their team members for patient health concerns
  • Receive a handover report on patients from the alternative SMO
  • Attend ward areas preferably within an hour when commencing duty in all shifts

  • Provide comprehensive medical care in the High Dependency Unit
  • Manage patient admissions, treatment plans, and discharges
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical care interventions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical medical practices
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continuous professional development activities
  • Uphold the hospital's commitment to patient safety and quality improvement
