Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handover & takeover incoming / outgoing shift unit / ward information related to patients
- Provide direct patient care throughout the shift
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards
- Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multi-disciplinary team strategies
- Prepare medication requisitions and administrate medication
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies & protocols
- Facilitate doctors / consultants on their rounds in the unit / ward and records instructions
- Assist doctors with any procedure they may need to perform
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing care
- Carry out the doctors’ orders as prescribed, questions any concern with prescribed treatment
- Ensure the unit/ward medical supply requirements are well stocked, properly stored and are readily available
- Check and record blood sugar
- Draw blood and perform other lab procedures on patients
- Check and record vital signs, particularly of pre-operative and post-operative patients
- Perform IV cannulation of patients, following Clinical IPPs policy manual
- Notify/report incidents related to patients, staff, visitors and any untoward occurrences in a timely manner
- Supervise Nurse Aids, Student Nurses, etc
- Perform delegated patient & non-patient related tasks as directed by the Ward incharge, Nursing Coordinator
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Head of the Department
