Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Histopathology section, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
• Oversee all aspects of clinical governance, including quality assurance and accreditation
• Develop and enhance laboratory services
• Contribute substantially to teaching as an integral part of clinical practice
• Lead or actively participate in departmental and external hospital committees
• Implement and monitor quality control and assurance protocols
• Maintain accurate record-keeping procedures compliant with Good Laboratory Practice
• Provide independent sign-out of difficult cases and clinico-pathologic advice
• Ensure drafting and implementation of SOPs
• Supervise staff performance and adherence to departmental protocols
• Acquire extensive knowledge of advanced laboratory theory and techniques
• Participate in departmental and organizational meetings
• Acquire knowledge of standard laboratory safety procedures
• Perform costing and feasibility studies for new tests
• Ensure proper test utilization and inventory management
• Oversee training and development of technical staff
• Participate in continuing educational activities (CME)
• Actively participate in academic activities and research
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs
• Organize and participate in departmental academic activities
• Participate in formal and informal education in a clinical setting
• Maintain and update own knowledge and skills
• Participate in departmental audits
• Actively promote research activities and inter-departmental research projects
• Manage proficiency testing, ordering, and result review with corrective action
• Supervise and report proficiency testing surveys
• Undertake any other tasks assigned by hospital management
