- Maintain current knowledge of new developments in nursing care and treatment protocols
- Competently assess, prescribe, and evaluate patient care, ensuring nursing care plans are up-to-date and under daily review
- Conduct thorough departmental rounds to ensure nursing staff consistently follow patient care standards
- Maintain comprehensive records in compliance with professional, regulatory, and legislative mandates
- Create staff duty schedules, manage staff absences, and ensure staffing levels meet established needs for adequate daily coverage
- Engage in regular staff meetings to discuss equipment, scheduling, objectives, performance metrics, improvement activities, and staff concerns
- Ensure prompt reporting of equipment faults or maintenance problems to the appropriate individuals
- Collaborate with the HR department to implement disciplinary procedures when necessary
- Facilitate the orientation and induction of new staff, ensuring they are properly onboarded
- Educate staff on both new and existing department procedures and systems
- Work collaboratively with team members, including the Nursing Manager and Admin/Operations Manager
- Participate in training sessions designed for nursing staff and care assistants
