- Mastery of WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement / Agreement on Subsidies & Countervailing Measures / Safeguard Agreements
- High-level legislative drafting and litigation strategies
- Conduct research to analyse impact of pending court cases
- Prepare Statements with written arguments, Appeals, Petitions, Plaint etc
- Manage the record of court cases
- Conduct legal research on domestic and international trade laws, WTO Agreements, trade remedy regimes, administrative law, and related legal frameworks
- Assist in drafting legal opinions, briefing notes, summaries, reports, legal memoranda, and analytical papers
- Assist in the legal review of anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard investigations conducted by the Commission
- Maintain legal databases, records, research repositories, and case-law compilations
- Perform any other legal research, analytical, or drafting assignments
- Mandatory proficiency in Stata, R, Python or equivalent
- Expertise in Computed General Equilibrium (Global Trade Analysis Project / General Algebraic Modelling System) and Partial Equilibrium modeling
- Tariff optimization, export product development, evaluation of sectoral competitiveness, value addition, productivity enhancement, consumer welfare and technology transfer etc
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of trade defence laws under Anti-dumping Duties Act, 2015 and Safeguard Measures Ordinance, 2002
- Advise the Federal Government on Customs Tariff under NTC Act, 2015
- Improve competitiveness of the domestic industry
- Determine effect of tariff changes, trade remedy measure, and its specific and allied functions
- Support preparation of responses, submissions, pleadings, and legal documentation for proceedings before courts, tribunals, appellate forums, and other competent authorities
- Manage the court processes and related matters
- Inputs for litigation and appellate proceedings
- Comparative studies on trade and tariff-related legal issues
- Maintain case dairy of court work and related matters
- Periodic progress reports on assigned tasks
